Details
- Thin-Film Sample Support Windows are available in Continuous Rolls, Pre-Perforated Rolls and Pre-Cut Circles interleaved with lint-free tissue carriers, in addition to SpectroMembrane® Thin-FilmSample Support Window Carrier Frames.
- Fabrication and storage of all thin-films is performed under environmentally controlled conditions and immediately individually shrink-wrapped in clear plastic to preserve the original integrity. These extra precautionary measures are necessary to avoid the potential possibility of inadvertently introducing trace levels of contaminates that may affect x-ray data.
Pre-Perforated Thin-Film Rolls
Thinfilm rolls preperforated at 3” lengths are also available for analysts with a preference to continuous rolls and would like the convenience of dispensing pre-cut sections. Simply detach three square inch sections from the bulk roll at the perforations as required. Each roll is 300’ in length by 3” wide. A single pre-perforated roll serves to prepare 1200 samples at 3 inch per sample.

MYLAR®
At one time, Mylar® thinfilm was the only substance used in the XRF spectrochemical field and supplied only in roll form. With the passage of time, Chemplex® introduced the expansion of the Mylar® product line to include additional gauges and all other forms of physical presentation such as pre-cut square sheets, precut circles, perforated precut squares in rolls and recently in SpectroMembrane® Carrier Frames. Mylar® is a relatively good thin-film substance for general purpose aqueous sample solution containment. It has an excellent sample retention tensile strength. It is not suitable for containing aliphatic alcohols, alkalies, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons and keytones.
